To use 'Encoders' click the 'Encoder' button on the 'Record Settings' dialog or the 'Live Broadcast Settings' dialog.

When you use 'Encoders' the output format for video is WMV and for audio is WMA. Encoders use Microsoft Media Encoder technology and are installed along with the latest Windows Media Player and the latest Microsoft DirectX.

Compression using Encoders:

Encoders can be used to compress audio and video and the compression process is done on-the-go.

If you intend to compress the audio/video stream using an encoder select it from the list of all the encoders installed in your system. A different set of encoders will be listed both for audio and video.

Output is WMV for video and WMA for audio.
