Connecting external video sources

This page helps you learning how to connect your video source to your PC so you can start using 1AVCenter Video Recorder to get your video to AVI, and WMV, whether it is intended for portable devices, or high definition.

Usually in the back of your computer there is a panel with all the entries that it can receive and in there you'll find the TV tuner board entries if you have one. You will need a TV tuner card to capture and record from external analog video devices.

The video entries are usually of two types: S-Video and Composite.

External video devices include DVD players, VCRs, analog TVs, or other video carriers will provide an S-Video or Composite video output to be plugged into the respective TV tuner card S-Video or Composite Video-In.

Remember that you will also have to plug the audio from the video device into the PC and this can be done in two ways: TV tuner cards usually have a P2 Line-In and you can plug the audio cable from the video device directly into this P2 Line-In. The alternative is that you can plug the device audio cable directly into the Line-In of the audio board. In one of these two ways you're sure to capture audio along with video from the external video device.

P2 and S-Video or Composite are the connectors that you will need to use to plug video devices into your PC. If the device you're trying to plug in doesn't provide these types of cables you can easily find cables to make the correct bridge. Cables with the right plugs on each end are sold at any appliance store for a couple of bucks.
